Are there any disadvantages to using AB Trusts in my estate plan?

Video Transcription

An AB Trust refers to the type of estate planning that wealthy people use to minimize their estate tax liability. The main disadvantage of using that as of 2015 is that far too much of a person’s assets can get caught in this, somewhat inflexible, rigid plan and as of 2015, as well, the estate tax savings have to be balanced against certain income tax savings that can be achieved by not using an AB Trust or using sort of a modified AB trust. So if you’re a wealthy individual or a couple and you have an older AB Trust, you definitely have to have it looked at because it simply might not provide the flexibility that you need and it may not even provide the tax savings that you had expected.
